Erdee Media Group (EMG) has been a leading media company since the 1970s. Based on its mission, EMG provides responsible news and information for Christians and non-Christians in a committed and innovative way. It stimulates discussion with society and interaction between different parts of the target group. It also provides a platform for opinion-forming, in which it likes to play a guiding role.

For a company that wants to spread the world’s latest news 24/6 and keep readers up to date with the latest developments in society, it is essential to have a stable, technical base on which to work. And because Erdee Media Group has excellent engineers in-house, but not the capacity to build this infrastructure itself, a sustainable, stable solution was sought on which to build the media company.

Maximum stability, scalability, redundancy and uptime

The search for an infrastructure led Erdee Media Group to get in touch with Tuxis in 2014. Tuxis’ no-nonsense attitude and expertise made for a pleasant cooperation. The challenge at Erdee Media Group was as follows: The infrastructure had to be fast, stable, scalable and redundant. Management had to be simple, but with the ability to call in help when the need arose. There also had to be no downtime.

Dit vraagstuk leverde op dat er intensief gekeken werd naar de oplossing die ProxmoxVE kon bieden in combinatie met Ceph. Proxmox voor de visualisatie en Ceph voor de storage. Om aan alle eisen te voldoen en dit op de juiste manier te implementeren met Proxmox en Ceph werd het volgende bedacht: Er werd een cluster gebouwd bestaande uit drie servers. Ceph schrijft alle data drie keer weg. Naar elke server één keer. De drie servers werden in drie verschillende datacenters geplaatst. Dit had als effect dat er een server uit mocht vallen zonder dat er data verloren zou gaan of dat er downtime zou ontstaan. Sterker nog: Een heel datacenter mocht uitvallen en er zou niks aan de hand zijn voor de Erdee Media Groep. Hier is het product ‘Tuxis Corporate Cloud’ of kortweg ‘TCC’ ontstaan.
